The Ponape bell tower is the largest remaining structure from the German administration. Its construction along with the church if which only the apse remains, was a major architectural accomplishment for 1909 in such a remote and undeveloped area as Ponape. It remains an important landmark for Ponape, the remaining construction Bears evidence of the exactness and attention to detail of the German Capuchins Fathers who directed its construction.
